Skeptiss Terms of Service

The Short Version

Skeptiss is a client portal platform for service businesses. By using it, you agree to these terms. We'll always be straight with you about what we expect, what you can expect from us, and what happens if things go sideways. If you have questions, email us at skeptissapp@gmail.com.

1. Who These Terms Apply To

These Terms of Service apply to anyone who creates an account, uses the Skeptiss platform, visits our website at skeptiss.io, or receives communications from us. By accessing or using Skeptiss in any way, you agree to be bound by these terms.

If you're using Skeptiss on behalf of a business, you're agreeing to these terms on behalf of that business and confirming you have the authority to do so.

2. What Skeptiss Is

Skeptiss is a software platform that helps service businesses manage client projects, document scope agreements, collect digital approvals, track milestones, all in one place.

We provide the tools. You run your business. We are not a party to any agreement between you and your clients, and we are not responsible for the outcome of any project, payment dispute, or business relationship you manage through the platform.

3. Creating an Account

To use Skeptiss, you need to create an account. When you do, you agree to provide accurate and truthful information about yourself and your business, keep your login credentials secure and not share them with unauthorized people, notify us immediately at skeptissapp@gmail.com if you suspect your account has been compromised, and be responsible for everything that happens under your account.

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. Skeptiss is intended for business use, not personal or consumer use.

4. Free Trial and Paid Plans

We offer a free trial period for new accounts. During the trial, you get access to core Skeptiss features at no cost. No credit card is required to start.

When your trial ends, you can choose to subscribe to a paid plan. Paid plans are billed on a monthly or annual basis depending on what you select. All fees are clearly displayed before you commit to anything.

If you choose not to subscribe after your trial, your account will be downgraded or deactivated. We'll give you advance notice before that happens so you can export your data.

5. Billing and Payments

All payments are processed securely through Stripe. By subscribing to a paid plan, you authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel.

Refunds: We offer a full refund within 7 days of your first paid charge if you decide Skeptiss isn't the right fit. After that, all charges are final. We do not offer prorated refunds for cancellations mid-billing cycle.

Failed payments: If a payment fails, we'll notify you and give you time to update your billing information before suspending your account.

Price changes: If we ever change our pricing, we'll give you at least 30 days notice before the new price applies to your account.

6. Your Data

You own your data. Everything you upload, create, or store inside Skeptiss your client list, project details, documents, messages — belongs to you.

We do not sell your data. We do not use your business data to train AI models or share it with third parties for marketing purposes. We access your data only when necessary to provide the service, troubleshoot issues, or comply with legal requirements.

When you cancel your account, you can export your data before it's deleted. We retain data for up to 30 days after cancellation before permanently removing it from our systems.

7. Your Clients' Data

When you invite clients to project portals through Skeptiss, you are collecting and managing their personal information using our platform. By doing so, you take on responsibility for having a legitimate reason to contact and share information with your clients, complying with applicable privacy laws in your jurisdiction, obtaining any necessary consent from your clients before adding them to Skeptiss, and handling any client data requests, complaints, or disputes.

We process your clients' data on your behalf as a data processor. You are the data controller. This matters legally and we want to be clear about it.

8. Acceptable Use

Skeptiss is built for legitimate service businesses. You agree not to use the platform to send spam or deceptive communications, impersonate another person or business, upload or share content that is illegal or harmful, attempt to hack or reverse engineer the platform, use Skeptiss for any purpose that violates applicable laws, or resell access to Skeptiss without our written permission.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any account that violates these terms without prior notice if the situation warrants it.

9. SMS Communications

If you have received an SMS message from Skeptiss, your contact information was sourced from publicly available business directories. We use SMS to reach out to service business owners who may benefit from our platform.

Every message we send clearly identifies Skeptiss as the sender, includes a way to opt out by replying STOP, and is compliant with the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and CTIA messaging guidelines.

Replying STOP to any message from us immediately removes you from all future SMS outreach. We honor all opt-out requests within 24 hours.

If you are a Skeptiss customer using the platform to send messages to your own clients, you are responsible for ensuring your use of any messaging features complies with applicable laws including the TCPA, CAN-SPAM Act, and any relevant carrier guidelines.

10. Intellectual Property

Skeptiss and everything that makes it what it is the design, code, branding, content, and features belongs to us. These terms do not give you any ownership rights in the platform.

You retain full ownership of the content you create and upload. By using Skeptiss, you grant us a limited license to store, display, and process your content solely for the purpose of providing the service to you.

You may not copy, reproduce, or create derivative works based on Skeptiss without our written permission.

11. Third-Party Integrations

Skeptiss integrates with third-party services including Twilio, Stripe, Plaid, and others. Your use of those integrations is also subject to those companies' own terms of service and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices, availability, or actions of any third-party service.

12. Downtime and Service Availability

We work hard to keep Skeptiss running smoothly but we cannot guarantee 100% uptime. There will occasionally be scheduled maintenance, unexpected outages, or technical issues beyond our control.

We will do our best to notify you in advance of planned downtime and to resolve unplanned issues as quickly as possible. We are not liable for any losses or damages resulting from service interruptions.

13. Disclaimer of Warranties

Skeptiss is provided as-is. While we stand behind our product and work hard to make it reliable and useful, we make no formal guarantees that the platform will be error-free, uninterrupted, or perfectly suited to your specific needs.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

14. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Skeptiss and its founders, employees, and contractors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost revenue, lost data, or business interruption; arising from your use of the platform, even if we were advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these terms or your use of Skeptiss will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 3 months prior to the event giving rise to the claim.

15. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Skeptiss and its team from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses — including reasonable legal fees — arising out of your use of the platform, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any third party's rights.

16. Termination

You can cancel your account at any time from your account settings or by emailing us at skeptissapp@gmail.com. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing cycle.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or use Skeptiss in a way that harms other users or the platform. In serious cases we may terminate immediately without notice.

Upon termination, your right to use Skeptiss ends. We'll give you a reasonable window to export your data before it's permanently deleted.

17. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of Skeptiss will be resolved in the courts located in Multnomah County, Oregon.

18. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we'll notify you by email or with a notice inside the app at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of Skeptiss after that date means you accept the updated terms.

If you don't agree with a change, you can cancel your account before the new terms take effect.

19. Entire Agreement

These Terms of Service, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Skeptiss regarding your use of the platform. They replace any prior agreements, conversations, or understandings on the same subject.
